Feb 1942 – Did Hitler Kill His Generals?

Burt Thomas, Detroit News

Was something more sinister than accidents and health problems behind the deaths of four high-ranking Nazi military leaders early in the war?  Did Hitler himself or other Nazi leaders have a hand in their demise? That’s the implication behind these four cartoons appearing in mid-February, 1942.  Historians generally believe this was not the case, but at the time, the deaths were suspicious enough to raise the question and the U.S. press eagerly fueled the rumors.
