This cartoon, dated Jan. 8, 1941, is the very first to appear in my great aunt’s curious collection of World War 2 political cartoons. She would continue collecting and pasting cartoons into five large photo albums until after the war’s conclusion in December of 1945, amassing more than 3,500 in all. The best thing about this cartoon is the fact that FDR of all people is *skating*.
Yes, there is some irony there. The general public and apparently this cartoonist didn’t know, or didn’t care, that FDR couldn’t walk, let alone skate.
