Oct.,1944 — Allies sense victory, and peacetime problems

All during the fall of 1944 the newspapers were full of optimistic political cartoons forecasting victory (prematurely with the Battle of the Bulge and huge Pacific battles still lying ahead) while also foreshadowing the enormous challenges of putting back together a badly-fractured world.  Here are a just a few examples from Aunt Ethel’s War.
